The Products, the App, and the Website are collectively the "Services". This Policy is a binding contract between you and Pawpaw, a Canadian company.

PLEASE NOTE THAT PAWPAW IS PROVIDED "AS-IS" AND EXISTS SOLELY FOR INFORMATIONAL AND EDUCATIONAL PURPOSES.

PAWPAW STRIVES TO OFFER AI-POWERED PET CARE GUIDANCE AND INSIGHT, BUT THE APP DOES NOT PROVIDE MEDICAL, VETERINARY, OR PROFESSIONAL ADVICE. USERS EXPERIENCING CONCERNS ABOUT THEIR PET'S HEALTH SHOULD SEEK PERSONALIZED SUPPORT FROM A QUALIFIED VETERINARIAN OR LICENSED ANIMAL HEALTH PROFESSIONAL. RELIANCE ON THE CONTENT PROVIDED BY PAWPAW IS AT THE USER'S OWN RISK; IN URGENT OR EMERGENCY SITUATIONS, USERS SHOULD CONTACT THEIR LOCAL VETERINARY EMERGENCY SERVICE IMMEDIATELY.

1. Who we are.

Our mission is to create a reliable and user-friendly tool through which you can improve your pet's well-being. Our Services include, without limitation, access to features such as AI-powered pet care advice, lost pet alerts, discovering pet-friendly parks, sharing moments with the community, and interacting with a chatbot to ask various questions that are answered from a pet care perspective. Please note that the Services include artificial intelligence generated content.

2. Information We Collect.

We collect information that you provide directly and information automatically collected when you use the App.

Information You Provide: This includes your Account Information (name, email address, profile picture, authentication credentials via Google Sign-In or Apple ID), your Pet Profile Data (name, breed, age, weight, medical conditions, and photos of your pets — this data is essential for our AI to provide accurate nutritional and behavioral advice), User Content (photos, videos, comments, posts, and direct messages you share within the community), and Support Communications (records of your interactions with our support team).

Automatically Collected: This includes Device & Technical Data (IP address, device type, operating system version, unique device identifiers, and crash reports), Usage Data (features you use, time spent on the App, and interaction logs), and Location Data (GPS coordinates are collected only with your explicit permission to facilitate the "Lost Pets" feature and to locate nearby pet-friendly parks — you can disable this at any time in your device settings).

LOCATION PRIVACY: When your location is shared with other users (e.g., for lost pet alerts), only your approximate area is displayed — such as neighborhood, street name, and city. Your exact address is never revealed. For example, "1234 Rue Sainte-Catherine, H2X 1K4" would appear as "Rue Sainte-Catherine, Montreal, Canada" to other users.

3. How We Use Your Information.

We use your data for the following legitimate business purposes:

  • Service Delivery: To provide AI-powered advice, manage your credits (PawCredits), and facilitate social interactions.
  • Community Safety: To moderate content and investigate reports of harassment, hate speech, or dangerous behavior.
  • AI Improvement: Anonymized pet data and questions are used to fine-tune our AI models to provide better advice over time.
  • Lost Pet Recovery: To notify users in the vicinity of a reported lost pet.
  • Legal Compliance: To comply with applicable laws and regulations.

IMPORTANT — COMMUNITY SAFETY NOTICE:

Direct Messages (DMs) and social posts are NOT end-to-end encrypted. This allows our moderation team to access and review reported content to ensure the safety of our community. By using the Services, you acknowledge and accept this.

4. Data Sharing.

We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with trusted third-party service providers who assist us in operating the App, including providers for secure hosting, authentication, AI processing, maps integration, and push notifications. All partners are bound by strict confidentiality agreements and data protection laws.

5. Data Security.

We implement industry-standard security measures, including SSL/TLS encryption during transit and encryption at rest for sensitive database fields. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

6. International Data Transfers.

Your personal information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your country of residence, such as the United States (e.g., via Supabase, Vercel). These countries may have data protection laws that differ from yours. We rely on adequacy decisions or appropriate data transfer agreements to protect your data.

7. Your Rights.

Depending on your location, you have the right to: Access (request a copy of the personal data we hold about you), Correction (update or correct inaccuracies in your data via the App settings), Deletion (request the full deletion of your account and associated data automatically via the "Delete Account" button in Settings), and Export (request a machine-readable export of your data). 8. Children's Privacy.

Pawpaw is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of any significant changes through the App. Your continued use of the Services after any modifications indicates your acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
